NL-PL-NL in a weekend
I was invited to a wedding party in Poland. I travelled by hitchhiking. I may write out a little story about the trip, for now I’d like to share a little list of the lifts. The trip could be described as average, where the very weak part of the way to Poland was a big number of cars (11) and the weak part of the way back very intense traffic and several hours of traffic jams, while I needed 6 cars and stayed overnight in Köln.
29 August Maastricht (NL) – Lubniewice (PL)
First by bus to the station and on foot to the official hitchhiking spot in Maastricht. I have not yet found the ease of hitchhiking very near my new flat in Maastricht.

A guest who would arrive on Saturday, after I would be back from my trip, asked on Thursday if she could arrive one day earlier, on Friday. Luckily a friend would be helpful, so she, or better they, could stay over at his place. After ending the working day we met up all together for a cup of tea and then I went on, back to my territory… Maastrichts’ official hitchhiking place.

Hitchhiker and hitchee in one weekend
Hitchhikers not that rare in Belgian mountains
I spent the Easter weekend in the “Deutsch-Belgisches Naturpark Hohes Venn-Eifel”. These compromise an area of woodland and highmoor on an altitude of up to almost 700 meter – the high mountains of Belgium. Of interest to this German Autostop-society may be that the major deal of the Belgian part makes part of the “Deutschsprachige Ostkantons Belgiens”.
On Saturday morning we picked up a hitchhiker in the vicinity of Verviers. It was about 11 and he had started hitching at about 8 AM, coming from a place close to the coast in Belgium. He had thus crossed the whole country – 200 km or so – in three hours. Not bad!

Weiterlesen »Last weekend I hitched from Maastricht to some friends in the small city Venray (between Venlo and Nijmegen in the east of the Netherlands). On the way out I stood 10 minutes on the official hitchhiking spot in Maastricht and had a ride of 45 kilometres the right way. Got out at the A2 x N273 junction and stood on the first parking lane along the N273 for 20 minutes for a ride of about 25 kms the right way. The other 4-5 times that I was there I waited for 5-10 minutes each time, this time a bit longer…
