Yes, with German hitchhikers we do this ;) ;) ;) Coz of the war, coz of the enormous sandpits you make on our beach and coz you beat us in the 1978 Welltmeischerschaft Fussball (and we always say that you won because "es war ein Schwalbe")...

In the past it happened that I could not get away hitchhiking from the Maastricht hitchhiking spot. After 30 to 60 minutes a few times (three, four) I gave up and went by train or by car (that I'm used to park sometimes near this great hitching spot). One of these occasions, when the thought "this is the last flow of cars that I less pass by from the next green traffic light" it was the last or one of the last cars of this flow showing the famous middle finger.

I went away but it was really frustrating to have this after this long wait (for me every wait of more than 30 minutes is usually long, although sometimes understandble regarding traffic situation thus still acceptable).

I'm hh almost five years and it's remarkable to me that only in the first years drivers (in the Netherlands) tricked with me that they stopped 100-200 meter behind and drove off as soon as I got near. It's a play, they don't do it with experienced hitchers :).

Also in Czech Republic quite near Praha I've seen the middlefinger from a Czech driver.

And on Polish-German border on the German side, the motorway from Stettin to Berlin, got out off the car 10 meter behind the border, started to walk away a bit by the road when a German Zoll man told me "du kannst hier nicht trampen, es ist hier Autobahn"...

Dieser mann war verdammt scheisse. Het told I could hitch ""there"" pointing at a minor minor sideroad, so I pretended to go there and back to the "motorway" after 100 meter, too far off for the stupid GERMAN Zoll guy :p :p

For me worse than middle fingers and using horn is to wait VVVEEERRRYYY long, much much longer than I would expect considering the traffic situation. A wait of one hour can be terribly long, on other moments it feels completely normal (when there is little traffic or a lot of traffic but few drivers who make a nice distance).
