Hitchhike Gathering/Camp 2007
Trampertreffen 2007 (Freiburg, 06. - 09. September)

The Hitch Hike Camp 2007 will take place from September 6th to 9th at a meadow in "Denzlingen" near "Freiburg am Breisgau". The meeting is open to everybody and is a perfect opportunity to meet some other (experienced) hitchhikers, to take part in discussions and workshops all around “autostop”. Please bring pictures and stories of your travels, your own ideas or even initiate your own hitchhike projects. The location can be reached by the highway A5. This invitation will give you more detailed information about the location and the program of the first German Hitchhike Gathering. (Please click here to read on and register.)

2. How to get there? What do I need?
The Camp will take place in a beautiful surrounding of nature with a lot of fruit trees. - Please do not forget to register, otherwise we can not send you the latest updates and information regarding the camp. - You can easily find it at liftershalte.info where we have added a mark. The best way by hitchhiking is to leave the A5 at the exit "Freiburg Nord". From there you have two chances to get to Denzlingen. There is a bigger road called 294 which is going directly to Denzlingen. The road is very big/fast an difficult for cars to stop. The more chillig way is to go at the small roads trough the villages "Holzhausen" and "Reute". When you get troubles to reach the Camp call the Camp-Phone: 0152 - 0353 22 88 and we will try to pick you up. You can also try hitchhiking to Freiburg Trainstation and take a bus from there. The buses 206 and 209 are driving to Denzlingen Trainstation. The departure schedule you can get here or at the local transport system RVF. At the camp there will be enough space for about 100 tents! There is also a big fire place and a big dome-tent is still work in process.

We can stay at this meadow for a little donation (about 2EUR/Day/Person). When you click on the maps they will enlarge.

3. Progamme
The whole weekend will deal with hitchhiking related issues. In the first place exchange of experiences and know-how will be in the focus of this meeting, please bring pictures and stories of your travels. At he same time the camp will be the first official member gathering of the first western European Hichhiking Club “abgefahren e.V.- Deutsche Autostop Gesellschaft”.

The program of this weekend will be quite open and flexible. Below we listed a few first ideas about workshops and ongoing activities. If you have points to add, please let us know. By the way: We also have beamer, so showing pictures and presentations should not be a problem.

- Presentation about how to get a hitchhiking spot (Horner-Kreisel, Maastricht, Potsdam)
- Presentation of abgefahren e.V.
- Workshop about making T-Shirts
- Some pictures of hitchhiking adventures
- Brainstorm about a hitchhiking race for the next year
- Thinking about the internet platforms
- Brainstorm about a video about hitchhiking
- Official Plenum of abgefahren e.V.
- Hitchhiking and Intercultural Learning / Non-formal Education
- video workshop (producing a hitch hiking relevant movie during the camp which we can post afterwards at youtube and spread everywhere, reduction of prejudices about hitchhiking, explanation of hitchhiking on the road with camera, hitchhiking around Freiburg witch camera, after the camp cut the movie with cine rebelde)
- Making hitchhiking more safety session (collecting tips about possibilities you have to leave a car, get seen better, no-go hitchhiking spots, producing an information paper about the collected points)
- Digital hitchhiking, making hitchhiking tools like hitchbase.com, liftershalte.info and hitchwiki.org better working together, how we will hitchhike in future? gps? navigation? systems like carlos(ch)
- Direct action in Freiburg Kronenbrücke. The idea is to start all together to hitchhike home from one spot on Sunday. To take pictures, sent them to the major and gather attention for a better hitchhiking spot. It Would be nice to have there around 30 hitchhikers who want to hitchhike from one place. Maybe, with this action it is possible to show that there are still plenty of hitchhikers around that need good spots for hitchhiking. There will be Indymedia and hopefully some other media, too. But up to now it is still an idea, so if you have any suggestions please let Mabe know.
- Werner is one of the few western european hitchhikers who did try some night hitchhiking, he will give a workshop about hitchhiking at night
- Iris will give an workshop on (female, solo) hitchhiking in the middle east (syria, irak, iran, turkey), although she did really a lot of it there and she might not only say positive things.

- The one and only hitchhiking experience session (exchange hitchhiking strategies, other possibilities of hitchhiking like trainstopping and hiking by boat, hitchhiking relevant interesting material, producing an information paper about the collected points?)
- Freiburg (Visit of Freiburg and Eurizons, a day of interactive global education and colorful street actions... we will give a hitchhike workshop there)
- Bonfire Hitchhiking stories (evening)
